Residential Carpenter / Craftsman-Level Technician

Austin, TX
Part Time to Full Time
Mid Level

Help seniors stay safe in their homes and give busy families their weekends back!

TruBlue of Great Hills is a family-run business with the backing of a national brand (120+ locations). We help seniors safely age in place and give busy families their weekends back. We handle the marketing, the phones, the pricing, and the paperwork. You bring the craft and experience that keeps clients happy and delivers real change in how they live in their homes.

This role starts project-based and grows into full-time work as our client base builds across North Austin and Williamson County. Hours vary week to week as jobs come in, some lighter and some heavier, and build toward steady full-time as we grow. You earn from day one at a fair hourly rate, with a clear path to full-time as the work grows.

What You’ll Do

  • Bathroom repairs and upgrades: Tub/shower system swaps, vanities, toilets, fixtures, tile repairs, and light refresh projects
  • Kitchen repairs and refreshes: Install/adjust stock or semi-custom cabinets, trim, standard backsplashes, and general kitchen repairs.
  • Finish carpentry: Repair/replace doors, casing, base, crown, cabinet trim, shelving, and small storage projects.
  • Decks and fences: Build and repair decks, railings, stairs, gates, and fencing.
  • General home repairs: Drywall repair, flooring repair/installation, interior/exterior painting, caulking, weather sealing, and punch-list items.
  • Basic Plumbing & Electrical: Straightforward fixture swaps, outlets, lights, and fans within code and license limits.
  • Aging-in-Place & Safety Work: Grab bars, handrails, comfort-height fixtures, slip-resistant flooring, and other standard accessibility upgrades for seniors.
  • Basic Maintenance: Gutters, filters, and small tasks as part of taking care of both new and repeat clients.
  • Tech-Based Scheduling: Use HouseCall Pro on your smartphone for scheduling, check-ins, photos, and invoicing.

Who You Are (Must-Haves)

  • Experience: Several years of paid residential carpentry, remodeling, or high-end handyman work. You have hands-on experience working on bathrooms, kitchens, or cabinets in owner-occupied homes. (Strong make-ready/property-management techs who can truly build and finish are also a great fit).
  • Quality Mindset: You care about quality and safety and take pride in clean, straight, finished work not just “good enough.”
  • Professionalism: Reliable, respectful, and professional with customers, especially seniors and families letting you into their homes.
  • Independence: Comfortable working independently and as part of a small, high-accountability crew.
  • Logistics: Valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle, solid set of tools, and a smartphone you can use for apps and photos.
  • Language & Authorization: Fluent in English and legally authorized to work in the U.S.
